Yearling milker
Two year old third freshener
Tessa is the quintessential dairy goat. She is also a sweetheart and favorite because of her
temperament. She is the result of breeding SG Brown Sugar's Coup de Grace (2nd on  the
USDA Elite Buck list) by AI to a doe tightly bred on our foundation doe, Wingwood-Farm Fire
Tamalpais. At the 1987 National Show we were very impressed with the tremendous capacity
and udder support of Coup de Grace's double grandam, SGCH Silver Thistle's Cabernet.
Cabernet is also the dam of SGCH Brown Sugar's Chardonnay, whose son, Brown Sugar's
Crown Ambassador, has had a huge impact on the Nubian breed. The breeding gave us
improvement in area of udder attachment, especially foreudder, in udder texture, in dairy
character and in milking ability. In 2005 as a 3yr old Tessa finished her Permanent
Championship and was in the top ten for milk, butterfat and protein production. She is currently
5th on the USDA Elite Doe list, joined by her two daughters, Taipei and Tassajara, who are
respectively 15th and 30th. Her will to milk is so great that this last year, though she aborted
with literally no milk, by three days she had made a little milk, maybe 1/2 cup, so we started
milking her regularly and over 6 months she slowly increased until her daily production was
almost 6 lbs. Her son, SG *B Wingwood Farm TS Timothy, has a huge impact on our herd the
last few years.
