Since we started breeding Nubians in 1975 there have been a few standout does and Allegra
certainly ranks up there with the best of them. She typifies what we are looking for in our Nubians
( the "Tamalpais look"), stylishness coupled with dairiness. The stylishness comes from her size,
length of body and length of leg. Does with this type of profile tend to walk with ease and they
age very gracefully. Often as young does they are somewhat gangly and coltish. As they deepen
and mature, they just get better and better. Allegra's sire Trojan was Tamalpais' last son, born
when she was 13 years old. Allegra will be 10 years old in 2010. It is amazing to us that we can
still have a Tamalpais (born in 1984) grandaughter in the herd. That's longevity! The highlight of
Allegra's show career was going 2nd place 5 year old with 1st udder at the 2005 National Show.
And she does have an amazing udder. The attachments are so strong, the teats are near ideal and
the texture is outstanding. The udder is so collapsible that everything you see is milk. If you deep
search her pedigree you will see the weaving in of many of the best Nubian udder genes of the last
20 years, so it shouldn't come as a surpise that her udder is so good. As a brood doe Allegra has
had a huge influence on our herd,  through her sons Aragon and Alessandro and her daughters,
Adagio (1st three year old, 2005 Nationals) and Allegretto. One the loveliest does in the herd
today is Aminance, closely bred on Allegra (her dam, Arpeggio, was Aragon x Adagio).
